VPF's Featured Grower of November, 2023
Pam & Jon Kanagy
Jon and Pam Kanagy have been raising turkey hens for Cargill since 1995, originally growing for Rocco. They raised three daughters on the farm, who helped with turkey chores during their younger years. Now, Pam handles the bookkeeping and Jon manages the farm.
In past years, the Kanagys have been named Cargill's hen grower of the year, and also received a "friend of the environment" award. They continue to demonstrate good stewardship of the environment by keeping their litter stored within the confines of their litter storage shed, along with use of their compost bins.
Jon's many years of experience is invaluable in terms of keeping a healthy flock. The Kanagys say they consider it an honor to be a part of the farming community these many years. Pam said, "When we started out, we couldn't quite envision 28+ years down the road, but now we can't imagine our life any other way."
HATS OFF TO THE KASNAGYS!
Congratulations from your local ag team!
